Medical/Health Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles. You can volunteer to help, care and provide services to members in a medical center. One way to get an opportunity is to go to VolunteerMatch.org and sign up to volunteer in nonprofit companies as well. An example of a well deserved place to volunteer is at St. Jacob Hospital. Volunteers there may paint, play music, or be a supportive presence in the lives of patients during their final days. The volunteer team can range from teens to senior citizens. To apply here you would have to send your email with a resume and a short paragraph explaining your interest in hospice volunteering and you should include any special skill that may be appropriate for the position. Also on www.allforgood.org/volunteer-opportunities-in-los-angeles-ca you can find many volunteer options in Los Angeles and have many different options. Some of these things can be like delivering meals to the homebound, help the elderly, music therapy, etc.

“It may make a difference to all eternity whether we do right or wrong today.”
James Freeman Clarke Reflection: I think that this quote means that what you do today can reflect on your future. If you choose to choose the right 24/7, you will have a bright future. If you do the opposite, you’ll have bad fortune. An example can be like James Holmes. That one day he decided to take many innocent lives, he is now in jail for ever. He has no more freedom and will never be happy again. This quote has a HUGE impact because if you apply it to your life in a good way, you’ll never regret it. But if you do wrong you will. I think people should start choosing the right because it will impact their life in a positive way for ever. Never do wrong because it can hurt you and loved ones. Ophthalmologist
Duties and Responsibilities: They study and treat disorders and diseases in the eye. Help treat for a better vision for the patients. They examine your eyes and can write prescriptions for your contact lens. Salary: $300,000 Education: Required to earn a medical degree, 4 year Bachelor’s degree, 4 years of medical school and undergo 3-8 years of internships and residencies. Demand: 14% (2014-2024) Reflection: I would not like to be one because of their job description. I do not seem interested at all because I think studying the eye is boring. Also I do not like or have any interest in the medical field and do not plan to even consider it. I think this job is for people who are really interested in the eye and I am not one of them. “The best way to predict your future is to create it.”
Charles Ketterer Reflection: I think this quote does not really make sense. If you create your future there is no prediction because you are creating it and know the outcome. I personally think that it is IMPOSSIBLE to create your future because many things you might not want can come out of nowhere. I think you can make choices in the present that can affect your future but not create it. You can do what you love and something can still go wrong. Like when you choose the wrong, you’re doing something that is going to affect your future negatively or positively in the future. I don’t think choosing the right is always the way to success. Rich and powerful bank owners purposely get people into debt so they can stay rich. They are rich and happy because they can get whatever they wish for. They can live their lives by doing whatever they want and still be filthy rich. Operating Room Technician
Duties and Responsibilities: They help and assist the surgical team during a procedure. They help by arranging inventory sterile setup for the operators and help give items to doctors or nurses when needed. They also clean the operating theater. Salary: $45,287 Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Surgical Technologists, possess a current ORT certification, and have 2-4 years of experience. Reflection: I would not like to be an operating room technician because I would not like to be an assistant of a doctor. I think I would much rather be the one in charge and being in the medical field is something I do not like to do. “Ask yourself is it right or wrong and act accordingly.”
Otto Graham, Jr. Reflection: This quote basically states that if its right then you should do it, if it’s wrong you probably shouldn’t. He chose the right and followed what he thought was right and became successful. If you think something is wrong and you do it, bad consequences will come to you. But if you do otherwise, great fortune will come as well as success and happiness. When you do the wrong you set yourself up for disaster. When you choose the right, you set yourself up for success. I think choosing the right is great for everyone because you can never worry about negative consequences. When you choose the right, nothing can make you feel down. This is because when you choose the right you will be happy. An example can be like the video we saw. We saw a kid give $20 to a soldier because his dad was in the service and both left happy. Occupational Medicine Physician
Duties and Responsibilities: Branch of medicine which deals with the maintenance of health in the workplace, like the prevention and treatment of diseases and injuries, they also help promote productivity and social adjustment Salary: $226,000 Education: An appropriate clinical specialty, Board Certification in Occupational and Environmental Medicine which is a 2 year residency program Demand: Huge demand because 50% are predicted to retire in the next 5 years Reflection: I would not like to become an occupational Medicine Physician and the reasons are because I do not like working in the medical field, I hate it. I think this job does not suit me because I don’t care about curing diseases or preventing any. I would never work in the medical field. |
